Position Description Summary

Required Education And Experience

  • Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

  • Experience: Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement supervisory experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

  • OR: Two years of professional experience as a manager or program/staff specialist or equivalent experience.

Additional Requirements And Information

  • Written Communication: Demonstrated writing ability, including organization, style, accuracy, and attention to detail, as demonstrated in the resume and cover letter/memo attached to the application. Format must follow MSP Style Guide standards.

  • Work Experience: Diverse experience with field operations such as managing a district or division within MSP.

  • Administrative Experience: Diverse experience including budgeting, policy development, project coordination, and operating within deadlines.

  • Supervisory Experience: Experience in managing large groups of people, both civilian and enlisted alike.

  • Community Involvement: Experience collaborating effectively with local community officials, law enforcement personnel, and other external agencies.

Applicants Must Be Eligible For Selection

Pursuant to Official Order 03-41 - Impact of discipline or corrective action on selection eligibility.

Essential Duties

  • Overall administration of the Intelligence Operations Division, which includes the Operations Section, Michigan Intelligence Operations Center, and the Cyber Section.

  • Liaison between state police and local, state, and federal agencies and support MSP field operations.

  • Perform functions in a bias-free manner.
