Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer (Designer)

This client-facing role supports PM Group’s expansion in the US, working on cutting-edge projects for pharmaceutical, biologics, and cell & gene therapy manufacturing facilities—from feasibility through qualification—for both local and international clients.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate all plumbing and fire protection activities to achieve project deliverables.
- Deliver agreed design scope within budgeted hours and schedule.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in general utility systems (e.g., plumbing and waste).
- Work with riser diagrams and P&IDs; create and modify drawings to stringent BIM/CAD standards.
- Apply strong communication and advanced Revit/AutoCAD skills.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g., MEP) using Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, or similar tools to resolve design conflicts.
- Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical and process engineers, and other internal/external team members.
- Design plumbing and fire protection systems, including:
- Sanitary and vent systems
- Storm systems
- Process waste systems
- Lab and vent systems
- Domestic water systems
- Process and lab gas systems
- Sprinkler design (wet/dry/pre-action systems)
- Fire water containment
- Produce calculations for all above systems.
- Visit project sites to analyze existing conditions and oversee construction of plumbing systems.
- Develop plumbing schematics and one-line riser diagrams.
- Select and create fixture schedules.
- Develop and edit plumbing specifications.
- Create fire protection zoning plans, code analysis, and performance specifications.
- Set up project drawings and incorporate drawing edits/redlines.
- Perform material takeoffs to support estimating activities.
- Execute construction administration activities.
- Attend project design team and review meetings.
- Ensure all documents and designs meet QMS criteria.
- Liaise and coordinate with other disciplines within US offices, other PM Group offices, and external consultants.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in an A/E design firm setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred).
- Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) certification (strong plus).
- Ability to understand and interpret fire protection codes (NFPA 13 & 20 at a minimum).
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, including AutoCAD MEP (required).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (required).
- Self-motivated, self-organized, reliable, and consistent approach to work.
- Clear, positive, and collaborative oral and written communication skills with clients and team members.
- Robust ethical approach to safety, quality, environmental protection, and business.
