About the role
The Senior Platform Technical Product Manager will own the vision, strategy, and execution of core platform capabilities that support engineering teams and business objectives. This role requires strong technical understanding, cross-functional influence, and the ability to translate complex technical challenges into scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the platform strategy, vision, and roadmap for foundational services including APIs, infrastructure, identity, observability, internal tooling, and developer enablement capabilities.
- Partner with engineering leadership to establish architectural direction, platform standards, and long-term technical priorities.
- Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, improve system scalability, and accelerate software development across teams.
- Translate business and technical needs into clear product requirements, including roadmaps, technical briefs, epics, user stories, and measurable success metrics.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Data, and Product teams to ensure alignment and successful execution.
- Evaluate complex technical decisions, including build versus buy considerations, vendor integrations, and platform architecture choices.
- Participate in architecture discussions involving distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and data platforms.
- Improve platform adoption by ensuring internal services are documented, discoverable, reliable, and easy for engineering teams to use.
- Gather feedback from internal users and continuously enhance the developer experience.
- Champion engineering best practices, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, engineering, or other highly technical environments, including 2+ years focused on product management or equivalent technical leadership responsibilities.
- Proven experience delivering complex, cross-functional technical initiatives within Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), data platforms, and modern software architectures.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices, DevOps methodologies, reliability principles, and developer enablement tools.
- Ability to engage effectively in technical architecture discussions and understand engineering trade-offs.
- Experience building or supporting scalable platforms within enterprise SaaS or high-growth technology environments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritize initiatives based on business impact, technical value, and user needs.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority across engineering and business teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with observability, identity, security, internal developer platforms, AI/ML infrastructure, or data-intensive systems is a plus.
- Background in software engineering or technical architecture is highly valued.
