About the role
We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the engineering, architecture, and evolution of our MuleSoft integration platform. This role is responsible for defining platform standards, guiding architectural decisions, and ensuring the scalability, security, and reliability of Mule Runtime Fabric and Omni Gateway. The successful candidate will drive API enablement, platform modernization, and AI integration capabilities while partnering across teams to deliver enterprise-wide integration solutions.
What You'll Do
- Define and own the architecture, standards, and roadmap for the MuleSoft platform, including Runtime Fabric and Omni Gateway.
- Lead platform architecture decisions for cloud, hybrid, and on-premises deployments, ensuring scalability, resiliency, security, and cost optimization.
- Establish and govern API management, API lifecycle, discoverability, and reuse strategies across the enterprise.
- Enable secure exposure, governance, and consumption of APIs and AI-driven assets.
- Define platform capabilities and standards for CI/CD, observability, operational excellence, and multi-environment deployments.
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, and application teams to align platform strategy with business and technology objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on platform strategy, governance, and investment decisions.
What You'll Need
- Experience in integration architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise architecture.
- 5+ years of hands-on MuleSoft platform experience, including:
- Mule Runtime / Runtime Fabric
- Omni Gateway (formerly Flex Gateway)
- API Manager / Exchange
- Strong expertise in API-led connectivity and microservices architecture.
- Experience with cloud-native and hybrid deployment models (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP).
- Hands-on experience implementing and supporting OAuth-based API security solutions.
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management concepts, including OAuth, DCR, mTLS, and Zero Trust.
- Experience implementing CI/CD, DevSecOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
- Experience designing scalable, resilient, and secure enterprise integration platforms.
What Will Set You Apart
- MuleSoft certifications (e.g., MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect).
- Experience with Kubernetes-based platforms, service mesh technologies, or API gateway platforms.
- Experience supporting or leading API management organizations, Centers of Excellence (CoE), or enterprise API governance initiatives.
- Experience enabling API-driven AI, data, or analytics platform integrations.
Work location
Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week.
