About the role
GumGum is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to help build a new, AI-powered software development platform. This role requires hands-on involvement in evaluating emerging AI SDLC frameworks, architecting the platform, and driving its adoption across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the AI SDLC / spec-driven development landscape and make the call on whether to adopt or build a platform
- Architect the platform end-to-end, including spec authoring, agent orchestration, and validation gates
- Build the tooling and services that enable spec-driven development as the default workflow for all engineering teams
- Instrument the platform to track adoption, delivery velocity, and friction, and use data to inform future decisions
- Partner with DevOps to integrate the platform into CI/CD, Kubernetes, and deployment infrastructure
- Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineering on model selection, context design, and agent guardrails
- Work with Security Engineering to ensure authentication and auditability
- Drive org-wide adoption by creating documentation and training materials
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, developer experience, or a closely related discipline
- Direct, hands-on experience building or driving the adoption of a development platform
- Working knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, and Python
- Track record of building internal tools and platforms that teams actually adopted
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Opinionated judgment about where AI genuinely speeds up delivery
Qualifications
- Experience with GitHub Spec Kit, OpenSpec, BMAD-METHOD, or similar platforms
- Ability to work in a remote or hybrid work environment
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of machine learning concepts and model selection
- Experience with security best practices and auditability
Skills
- Hands-on experience with platform engineering
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Python
- Strong communication and presentation skills
