Senior Platform Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Captures ongoing maintenance, changes, and updates to transportation systems
• Analyzes data, gathers, develops, and documents solutions to meet evolving business requirements
• Guides operational leadership on system capabilities and functionality, gathers and analyzes data to support suggested direction
• Collaborates with business stakeholders to understand business processes to define and analyze business requirements
• Supports Operations teams through training, implementation, and support of transportation systems including Manhattan TMS, Descartes Route Planner, and Velocitor POD
• Develops creative solutions to help solve complex system or procedural issues of the business utilizing existing technology
• Develops reports, alerts, dashboards, and health checks that are essential to the business and the health of transportation systems
• Leads moderate to large projects with a focus on delivery and quality of timeliness
• Tests and supports integrations with boundary systems
• Collaborates with vendor partners in the implementation of third-party systems
• Develops documented implementation plans, configures systems, trains users, and provides post implementation support
• Evaluates level of effort and articulates technical requirements; identifies impact, risk, and benefit of alternative solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in warehouse and logistics management or industrial engineering
• Three to five years’ experience in system implementations or related experience
• Experience with process design and process improvements
• Preferred experience with Descartes Route Planner and Manhattan Associates TMS implementations
• Ability to communicate technical information to Operations Managers and other stakeholders in an easy to understand way
• Ability to develop new methods or tools to solve complex problems with no existing solutions
• Proficiency in reading and communicating technical documents in a straightforward way
• Proficiency in SQL skills
• Proficiency in the use of REST APIs
• Proficiency in the use and management of supply chain systems; complex configuration
• Understanding of common supply chain system integration methods and formats such as sockets, FTP, delimited, JSON, XML, Python etc.

Other Requirements

• Ability to travel 25-50% of the time (some weekends)
• On-call 24/7 during a one-week call rotation as scheduled
