Senior Platform Architect
About the role
The Infrastructure Engineering team is seeking a Senior Platform Architect to lead the design and evolution of secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise infrastructure platforms that power Mastercard's critical business services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of highly available, scalable, and secure enterprise infrastructure solutions across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
- Partner with Engineering, Network, Security, Cloud, Database, Middleware, Product, and Program Management teams to develop infrastructure solutions that support business and technology strategies.
- Drive infrastructure solution delivery from initial business engagement through architecture reviews, financial approvals, procurement, implementation, operational readiness, and production deployment.
- Design resilient networking, application delivery, and security architectures utilizing enterprise technologies including load balancing, web application firewalls, API gateways, and distributed infrastructure platforms.
- Lead infrastructure modernization initiatives focused on automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), platform standardization, performance optimization, resiliency, and operational excellence.
- Develop enterprise architecture standards, technical roadmaps, and infrastructure documentation while mentoring engineering teams and promoting engineering best practices.
- Ensure infrastructure solutions meet stringent requirements for security, compliance, availability, scalability, disaster recovery, and performance across mission-critical platforms.
Requirements
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure architecture across data center, hybrid cloud, and distributed computing environments.
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise networking, application delivery, and infrastructure security, including Zero Trust principles and modern network architectures.
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise platforms utilizing VMware, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), load balancing, web application firewalls, API gateways, and distributed infrastructure.
- Strong expertise in infrastructure automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD integration, and configuration management using tools such as Git, Bitbucket, and Jenkins.
- Demonstrated ability to architect and deliver highly available, resilient, and secure infrastructure solutions while collaborating effectively across cross-functional engineering and business teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence technical and executive stakeholders.
Desirable Or Additional Capabilities
Experience with distributed data platforms such as VMware GemFire, Apache Geode, or similar in-memory data grid technologies. Advanced experience creating technical architecture documentation and executive presentations using Microsoft Visio. Experience supporting mission-critical financial services platforms with stringent availability, security, resiliency, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Mastercard offers a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
