Senior Planner Hybrid

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position will be responsible for overseeing the building department's operations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, and providing technical guidance to applicants.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the review and approval of construction plans and permits
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
• Provide technical guidance to applicants regarding building code requirements
• Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to approved plans and standards
• Respond to inquiries from the public and other departments regarding building code issues
• Prepare reports and documentation related to building department activities
• Participate in code enforcement actions and investigations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications

• Experience with building permit processing and plan review
• Knowledge of construction materials and techniques
• Ability to perform basic math calculations
