Senior Planner

About the role

MacKay & Somps is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Land Use Planner to join their Roseville team. The ideal candidate will have a background in landscape architecture, urban planning, or city and regional planning, and possess a functional understanding of land use/zoning principles and the CEQA process.

Responsibilities

• Land use/zoning research
• CEQA research and assistance
• Generating land use plans and grading concepts
• Preparation of planning/entitlement exhibits and documents
• Residential lotting and street layouts
• Site design
• Large-scale master planning
• Specific Plan preparation
• Preparation of tentative maps
• Oversight, organization, and processing of entitlement packages
• Coordination with public agencies, special interest groups, and project consultants

Requirements

• Familiar with planning and land development terms, methods, processes, and principles
• A functional understanding of land use/zoning principles and the CEQA process
• A background of basic design principles and understanding of horizontal and vertical components of site design
• Strong written, graphic, and oral communication skills
• Experience in preparing Specific Plan documents preferred

Skills

• AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Qualifications

• B.S. in City and Regional Planning or a BLA in Landscape Architecture or a related field from an accredited university
• Practical experience working in the land development industry with expertise in land planning, land entitlement, and site development approvals
• Authorized to work in the United States

Pay

The anticipated pay range for this role is between $55 - $75 per hour. Final pay determination will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, and education.

Schedule

Full-time position with an on-site schedule.
