Senior Planner
About the role
This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking company. As our new Senior Planner, you’ll take ownership of the project plan, drive the project team to deliver to the plan and challenge any delay and deviation. Leading, coaching and guiding a small team of more junior Planners, you’ll be viewed as an approachable Planning expert who is keen to pass on experience and knowledge to develop others and drive outperformance amongst the team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project programmes across the full project lifecycle
- Take ownership of project plans, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed timescales
- Drive project teams to deliver against programme targets, challenging delays and deviations
- Lead collaborative planning workshops with project teams and stakeholders
- Ensure project scope is fully captured with appropriate resource allocation
- Identify risks and opportunities, monitoring the critical path and key milestones
- Provide guidance and recommendations to optimise programme performance
- Review and challenge supply chain programmes, ensuring alignment with main project plans
- Maintain planning standards in line with company procedures
- Implement project and activity coding structures
- Manage and track project baselines
- Prepare detailed programme narratives for client submissions
- Carry out regular programme quality and integrity checks
- Produce and manage claims programmes and reflect contractual changes
- Contribute to regional planning performance, reporting and reviews
- Interpret drawings to support effective planning delivery
- Mentor and support Planners and Graduate Planning Engineers
Requirements
- Expert user of Primavera P6 planning software
- Proven experience in planning civil engineering and/or M&E projects
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Knowledge of current Health, Safety & Environmental practices
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong ability to identify risks and opportunities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
- Proactive approach with strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks effectively
