Overview
Join our team as a Senior Piping Designer! This is a role based out of our Atlanta office in Peachtree City, GA. The position is salaried and includes eligibility for overtime pay. Matrix Technologies is looking for energetic and customer-focused piping designers who would like to be part of a team environment. This position will be the lead designer for process and utility piping systems across food and beverage, specialty chemical, consumer products, and metals production facilities, as well as emerging sectors such as battery manufacturing and EV charging. Our workload is diverse in size and complexity, and Matrix has a reputation that allows us to choose the clients that we like to work for. Specifications
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field
- Experience with piping fabrication and installation for 12+ years
- PREFERRED INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE: Food & Beverage, Specialty Chemical, Metals, Oil and Gas
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new tools and standards across projects and clients
- Able to efficiently multitask between multiple projects
- Ability to lead design execution through coordination, delegation, and review of team deliverables while mentoring junior designers and drafters
- Ability to review and check piping design deliverables for accuracy, completeness, constructability and consistency
- Able to effectively collaborate with Project Managers and project Team Leads to deliver project scope and deliverables
- Ability to develop and maintain positive client relationships
- Able to travel 25% to 30% locally
- Able to travel 10% overnight
- Knowledge of industry best practices and standards with regard to Piping Design and Layouts
- Ability to gather field data and prepare project documentation
- Ability to read P&IDs and extract necessary information
- Ability to perform design, engineering calculations, and functions in accordance with accepted practices, company standards, and client specifications
- Proficiency in a computer-aided design tool such as Plant 3D or AutoCAD
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WITH THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Experience utilizing 3D scans (point clouds) and working with 3D models
- Knowledge of Revit, BIM360, or Navisworks Manage
- Ability to prepare project scopes of work, preliminary design concepts, cost estimates, and construction packages for small to medium size projects ($50,000 to $5,000,000 total installed cost)
- Experience with steam or hot oil system design
- Ability to develop P&IDs

Compensation
Matrix Technologies, Inc. offers market-competitive compensation for a Senior Piping Designer with a base range of $100,000 to $130,000 annually, and a total compensation package that includes quarterly bonuses, 401(k) matching, and overtime pay. Salaries are based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
