SENIOR PHYSICIAN (VARIOUS SPECIALTIES)
About the role
The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) seeks licensed physicians to lead medical sections within their facilities. DHS provides comprehensive healthcare services to over 600,000 unique patients annually.
Responsibilities
- Prepares budgets and determines equipment and supply needs for the section.
- Determines work procedures to expedite workload or improve levels of service.
- Screens work and reviews patient care provided by staff physicians, residents, and interns.
- Trains interns and resident physicians.
- Coordinates work with other medical and paramedical services.
- Confers with consultants regarding patient care and medical work.
- Maintains records and compiles reports.
Requirements
- Completion of a residency approved by an American Specialty Board in one or more designated specialties or equivalent training.
- One year of experience in medical practice, post-graduate training, teaching, or investigative work.
- California State Physician and Surgeon's Certificate authorized by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California.
- A valid California Class C Driver License or alternative transportation methods.
- Physical Class III: Moderate - includes standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, lifting up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10-25 pounds most of the time.
Special Requirements
- Completion of residency program within 12 months of filing.
- Submission of recommendation letter from Residency Program Director confirming good standing and anticipated successful completion date.
- Submission of legible copy of residency program certificate and California State Physician and Surgeon's Certificate at the time of filing or within 15 calendar days.
- Information pertaining to the completion of residency program and California State Physician and Surgeon's Certificate.
