About the role
We are seeking qualified candidates to fill Senior Physician positions within the Department of Public Health. Ideal candidates will lead evaluation of environmental hazards, provide technical guidance, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and oversee environmental health data.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate environmental hazards using advanced expertise in environmental toxicology and exposure assessment.
- Provide expert technical guidance on environmental exposures and associated health outcomes.
- Direct risk communication and public notification efforts during environmental hazards and emergencies.
- Coordinate with regulatory and partner agencies to align health-based recommendations and support incident response.
- Develop and implement protocols, policies, and procedures for environmental emergency response.
- Oversee analysis, reporting, and dissemination of environmental health data.
- Perform administrative and leadership duties, including program planning and continuous improvement of environmental health response systems.
- Oversee the maintenance of environmental health records and the preparation of technical reports.
Requirements
- Completion of a residency approved by an American Specialty Board in one or more designated specialties or equivalent training.
- One (1) year of experience in medical practice, post graduate training, teaching or investigative work.
- Specialty certification in Medical Toxicology or Occupational and Environmental Medicine, or Board certification in Preventive Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine with two (2) years of experience in environmental toxicology and exposure assessment within a public health agency or academic setting.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience applying advanced scientific expertise in environmental toxicology and exposure assessment to evaluate environmental hazards and ensure timely dissemination of accurate, actionable information to the public, media, and stakeholders.
- Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures for coordinated response to toxic environmental emergencies.
- Experience conducting and interpreting human health risk assessments, including evaluation of environmental monitoring, biomonitoring, and exposure pathway data.
- Experience in environmental and medical toxicology, including assessment of acute and chronic health effects associated with chemical, air, water, and soil exposures.
- Experience leading or supporting environmental health crisis and emergency risk communication.
- Experience applying epidemiological methods in environmental health response, including study design, exposure characterization, and analysis of health outcomes related to environmental hazards.
- Experience interpreting and integrating environmental science data to support regulatory decision-making, public health guidance, and cross-agency response.
- Experience in communicating risk to one or more audiences (e.g., public, media, and/or regulatory partners).

Pay
The pay range for this position is $X per hour to $Y per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Available shifts include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
