Job Summary
The Senior Physician Assistant provides high quality, efficient, team-based patient-focused care under the direction of a supervising physician. Responsibilities may include managing patients in various settings such as the office, hospital, emergency department, and operating room.
About the Role
The Senior Physician Assistant may facilitate on-call responsibilities for their supervising physician, provide mentorship to less experienced Physician Assistants, and collaborate on performance improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data.
- Administers or orders diagnostic tests and interprets results.
- Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in continuity of care.
- Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems, and health maintenance.
- Additional duties may include facilitating admissions, transfers, discharges; first assisting in surgeries or performing procedures; rounding on inpatients; and providing pre-operative and post-operative care.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years previous experience as a Physician Assistant in the last five (5) years.
- Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program.
- Physician Assistant License (California) required at hire.
- National Provider Identifier required at hire.
- Physician Assistant National Certificate required at hire.
- Basic Life Support certification required.
- Fluoroscopy Permit required, or must be obtained within 18 months from the date of hire in certain specialties.
- Pediatric experience preferred.

- Advanced Certification in specialty area, preferred.
