Senior Philanthropy Officer, Research and Innovation

About the role

The Senior Philanthropy Officer, Research and Innovation (SPORI) is a senior level fundraiser at Seattle Children's Foundation. This role serves as a key liaison between Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI) leadership and visionary donors, focusing on transforming pediatric science and innovation into compelling philanthropic narratives.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with renowned investigators and executive leadership to optimize philanthropic opportunities.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive philanthropic roadmap, aligning fundraising efforts with SCRI and Foundation leadership.
• Secure principal and transformational giving throughout the portfolio, collaborating with the Development team to manage a robust donor portfolio.
• Facilitate strategic philanthropic planning in partnership with Research and Foundation leadership, ensuring fundraising priorities are fully aligned with long-term scientific and clinical priorities.
• Partner with the Chief Scientific Officer, Chief Innovation Officer, and Chief Research Operations Officer to establish and refine fundraising priorities for specific research programs.
• Engage high-level relationships with Trustees, volunteers, and key community stakeholders to broaden the base of support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional designation.
• Minimum ten years' experience in the fundraising profession, with progressively increasing scope of responsibility.
• Seven years' experience in major giving ($100K+) and principal giving ($1M+) fundraising.
• Seven years' experience working with institutional leadership and leadership volunteers.
• Five years' experience developing and managing fundraising plans.

Preferred

• Minimum five years fundraising and management experience in a hospital, university, or organization of equivalent size, scope, and complexity.
• Proven track record of securing seven-figure gifts by partnering directly with principal investigators and clinicians.
