Design, develop, and execute performance tests across load, stress, duration, endurance, spike, soak, volume, and capacity scenarios.
Build custom Java-based performance test harnesses to simulate trading workflows, market data ingestion, order routing, and exchange connectivity.
Develop micro and macro benchmarking frameworks and production-like simulators to capture latency and throughput.
Create and run execution scenarios for varied tests and analyze outcomes to sign off production readiness for stability and performance.
Lead performance profiling and instrumentation architecture for CPU, memory, hot paths, utilization, and deployment events.
Partner with DevOps and back-end engineering to ensure optimal service utilization in containerized, cloud environments.
Debug across distributed and low-level system boundaries using logs, metrics, tracing, and performance tooling.
Ramp up on new technologies and unfamiliar parts of the stack as needed.

6+ years of performance engineering with hands-on test development.
Strong Java and core JVM expertise, including JVM tuning, thread and heap dump analysis.
Distributed systems experience with asynchronous workers and microservice architecture in cloud deployments.
Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Proficiency with profiling and instrumentation tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, or AppDynamics.
Experience architecting large-scale test automation.
Track record leading performance initiatives and influencing senior engineering and product leaders.
Effective communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills with a focus on productivity.

Capital markets or crypto experience, including trading, algo trading, and market data (nice to have).
Kernel bypass experience such as Solarflare OpenOnload (nice to have).
Low-latency messaging products such as Aeron, Solace, or 29West (nice to have).
