Senior Payroll Specialist
Do you love accuracy, organization, and helping employees feel supported? We’re looking for a friendly, detail-oriented Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team and take the lead on accurate, timely payroll while also supporting a few key HR administrative activities.
About the role
In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for payroll processing, payroll compliance, employee questions, reporting, and payroll-related records. You’ll also assist HR with onboarding, benefits administration, employee records, and other people-focused tasks. Vogel Bros. Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end payroll process for 200+ employees across multiple states.
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for salaried, union, and non-union employees across multiple states.
- Ensure payroll tax compliance, garnishments, prevailing wage, and union reporting are accurate and timely.
- Partner with Accounting and HR to maintain accurate employee records, labor allocations, benefit deductions, and payroll reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll systems and efficiencies.
Requirements
- 7+ years of payroll experience with responsibility for multi-state payroll.
- Experience processing payroll for union employees is a strong plus.
- Construction industry payroll experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws, compliance, and reporting.
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems; Acumatica and Paylocity experience is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

- Highly proficient computer and technology skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software, internet browsers, and office equipment (copier, printer, fax, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate information one-on-one and in small group settings to internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated understanding of standard accounting principles.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and perform them efficiently.
- Ability to work as a team player and take initiative to complete tasks.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, and other documents.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Reliable means of transportation to and from the office.
