About the Opportunity
The Senior Payroll Specialist role is critical for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple regions, including the United States, Canada, and India. This position supports payroll operations by maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, improving payroll systems, and partnering with various departments to enhance the overall employee experience.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end processing of accurate, compliant, and timely payroll cycles across multiple operational regions and locations
- Manage the database lifecycle of employee data modifications, variable earnings, complex deductions, tax withholdings, and off-cycle or manual payments
- Oversee international payroll compliance frameworks, specifically focusing on Canadian and Indian labor laws, statutory tax filings, and local regulations
- Collaborate actively with Accounting, People Operations, and localized business leaders to reconcile data inputs and ensure absolute payroll precision
- Administer corporate payroll systems, including complex technical configuration, data maintenance, structural updates, and platform troubleshooting
- Execute detailed payroll reconciliations, generate custom reporting, support month-end close ledger entries, and provide documentation for internal or external audits
- Maintain meticulous, structured payroll records while monitoring strict compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local wage and hour laws
- Cook up directly with cross-functional internal teams and external third-party global payroll vendors to optimize international operations
- Respond professionally, empathetically, and promptly to employee inquiries regarding pay stubs, tax adjustments, and general payroll questions
- Identify, prototype, and implement systemic opportunities for payroll process simplification, workflow optimization, and software automation
- Stay actively updated on evolving global payroll industry trends, shifting tax codes, and emerging regulatory legal updates
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing high-volume payroll operations within a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Comprehensive, working knowledge of core payroll processing workflows, data structures, and multi-regional tax regulations
- Proven expertise handling multi-state US payroll; exposure to or direct experience managing global international payroll frameworks is highly preferred
- Technical familiarity with modern enterprise payroll technology platforms; direct operational experience with Paycom is considered a distinct advantage
- Exceptional attention to numeric detail and a strict commitment to maintaining absolute employee data confidentiality
- Advanced problem-solving capabilities paired with a proactive, continuous process improvement and automation mindset
- Educated effective verbal and written communication skills with a track record of successful cross-departmental collaboration
- Able to remain self-motivated, highly organized, and productive while working independently within a remote office environment
- A strong professional drive to expand global payroll expertise and take on advanced operational ownership
Pay Range and Compensation Package
Target baseline salary framework: $70,000.00 to $85,000.00 USD annually
Final salary placement within this tier is determined dynamically based upon the candidate's technical payroll platform depth, multi-country processing experience, and specialized background evaluation
