Senior Payroll Coordinator
About the role
The Senior Payroll Coordinator will support a growing payroll team during a major payroll system implementation. This is an ongoing contract opportunity with the potential to make an immediate impact supporting payroll operations for a large, multi-state workforce.
Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for up to 1,700 employees across multiple companies and states
- Review and audit payroll data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Import and validate timekeeping data from multiple systems
- Process wage, overtime, deduction, garnishment, benefit, and tax transactions
- Serve as a payroll subject matter expert and respond to employee payroll inquiries
- Serve as a backup support for Payroll Accountants when needed
- Support payroll account reconciliations and payroll audits
- Complete union reporting and assist with payroll-related reporting needs
- Process employment verifications, paycheck advances, rate changes, and payroll maintenance requests
- Generate payroll reports and analyze payroll data for discrepancies
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and support a payroll system migration to UKG
Requirements
- 3+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience
- Experience processing complex, multi-state payrolls
- Payroll experience supporting organizations with 1,000+ employees
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify payroll discrepancies
- Customer-service mindset with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
- Team-oriented, resourceful, and solutions-focused approach
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction industry payroll experience
- Union payroll exposure
- Experience with payroll audits and payroll account reconciliations
- Experience supporting payroll system implementations or conversions
