About the role

The Senior Payroll Compliance Manager - Payroll Tax Specialist owns the health and accuracy of QuickBooks Workforce's payroll tax portfolio. This includes monitoring changes in tax agencies, documenting requirements, and ensuring compliance across various jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build systems for identifying, documenting, and acting on compliance changes.

  • Manage and prioritize compliance issues reported by the Tax Operations team, and proactively address recurring patterns.

  • Maintain a database of tax jurisdictions, including filing methods, forms, and agency contacts.

  • Define and maintain rules for agency data exchange, and prepare compliance documentation for audits.

  • Partner with engineering teams to automate repetitive tasks and reduce manual work.

  • Explore and adopt AI tools to enhance compliance monitoring and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in payroll tax compliance, preferably at a payroll service provider.

  • Ability to read and interpret tax agency specifications and translate them into clear requirements for engineering teams.

  • Data-driven mindset and familiarity with AI/ML concepts.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly.

  • Familiarity with structured agency data exchange formats and experience with automation tools.
