This Payroll position reports to the Controller and is responsible for performing a wide variety of analytical and technical accounting tasks, including recordkeeping, reconciliation, and report preparation.
Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll: receive approved timesheets, verify information, calculate taxable income, benefit amounts, leave accruals, commissions, and bonuses; enter data into software; generate payroll register; file registers and checks.
- Calculate sales commissions based on job status, commission structures, draws, and bonus calculations.
- Track project expenses, including labor costs, addendums, and change orders.
- Review field-related invoices for accuracy, completeness, and authorization; ensure expenses are coded to approved budgeted line items; notify departments of issues; GL code and input invoices into accounting software; prepare backup documentation for payment.
- Assist management with bi-weekly payroll processing, benefit documentation, and updates based on policy or employee reporting changes.
- Prepare and print AP checks for final approval and signature.
- Record and verify financial transactions; prepare and maintain periodic and special financial reports.
- Oversee and prepare month-end, job-end, and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, accounts receivable, deposits, and accounts payable.
- Assist with annual budget and financial report preparations by proofreading and verifying information; prepare schedules as directed.
- Support audits by pulling backup, scanning/copying information, and inventorying returned documents.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, assigning tasks and providing guidance.
- Research information as needed and input interest accruals into accounting software.
- Make accurate arithmetic, financial, and statistical computations.
- Organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal direction.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Communicate effectively in writing and orally to convey information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in accounting or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Full-time, in-office schedule (minimum 40-hour work week, 5 days).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in computer software (e.g., Sage), spreadsheets, word processing, and internet applications.

Pay
$80,000 yearly salary.
