Responsibilities
- Oversee the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting, adhering to deadlines mutually established with the Controller.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to uphold financial accuracy.
- Prepare and post journal entries while adhering to established accounting procedures and paying attention to details.
- Manage and process full-cycle payroll for employees across multiple states on a semi-monthly basis.
- Ensure accurate calculation and processing of wages, bonuses, commissions, benefits deductions, and payroll taxes.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including wage and hour laws.
- Review timesheets in Costpoint as well as process adjustments if necessary.
- Coordinate with HR on payroll changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, garnishments, and benefit adjustments.
- Partner closely with HR and Benefits teams to ensure accurate employee records and payroll changes.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide timely issue resolution.
- Support accounts payable by reviewing or entering AP vouchers accurately.
- Support accounts receivable by generating invoices, monitoring payments, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate accounts receivable records.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports and account reconciliations.
- Assist with the company's semi-annual bank collateral audits and the company's annual financial statement audit, including providing accurate data to auditors and responsiveness to auditor requests during fieldwork.
- Assist the Controller in preparing appropriate documentation related to policies, procedures, and internal controls as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of accounting and payroll experience, preferably in a government contracting environment.
- 5+ years of Deltek Costpoint experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting/payroll systems or ERP platforms.
- Experience with payroll software such as ADP, iSolved, Paycom, or similar systems preferred.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Demonstrate excellent prioritizing skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and busy environment.
- Expected to work closely with other department groups on problems.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Assures effective communications are maintained within areas of responsibility.
- Proficient with data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Master's or MBA preferred.
- Applicants selected for this position may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The optimal candidate shall possess an active Secret clearance.
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Federal Contract Manager (CFCM) certification or equivalent.
- Practical experience in International Sales, EAR and ITAR regulations, and export compliance.
