Senior Payload Systems Engineer (Secret Security)

Responsibilities

• Manage technical interfaces between imaging payload and spacecraft bus, ensuring compatibility across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and data systems.
• Lead system-level trade studies, evaluate design options, and analyze performance versus cost/risk.
• Model and assess payload power, data, and timing interactions; contribute to electrical interface documentation.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, COTS hardware, and new mission concepts for system integration feasibility.
• Participate in design reviews, ensuring payload systems meet performance, reliability, and environmental standards.
• Assess and troubleshoot payload and bus designs at the circuit level, leveraging electrical engineering expertise.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with active secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience with space-based optical payloads or similar hardware systems.
• Experience with spacecraft-payload interfaces, electrical analysis, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, and interpretation of schematics, block diagrams, and PCB layouts.

Preferred Skills

• Master’s or PhD in relevant fields.
• Experience with radiation effects, modeling tools (STK, SPICE, HFSS), and imaging payloads.
• Knowledge of fault management, redundancy, and space industry standards.

Pay

Salary range within Colorado is $107,000 - $157,300 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
