Senior Patient Care Technician Student Extern- Inpatient Surgical - North

About the role

The Senior Patient Care Technician works under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role involves performing direct patient care tasks such as bathing, assisting with elimination, bed making, and vital signs monitoring. Other responsibilities include transporting patients and patient-related materials, greeting and orienting patients to the care area, providing meal service and feeding assistance, and performing additional select care functions.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care tasks such as bathing, assisting with elimination, bed making, and vital signs monitoring.
• Transports patients and patient-related materials in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
• Greets and orients patients to the patient care area.
• Provides meal service and feeding assistance functions.
• Performs additional select care to patients.
• Collaborates with other team members to perform other services as directed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to use a computer for documentation and work related purposes.
• Strong written, verbal and nonverbal interpersonal and professional communication skills are required.
• Demonstrates accountability for own actions.
• Provides service in a willing and courteous manner.
• Demonstrates ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task.
• Able to take direction well, but also be self-directed and motivated.
• Requires a high degree of responsibility and responsiveness.
• Deal effectively with patients, visitors, situations, and other Care Team members, while maintaining emotional control.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift.
• Must be available for one week of full-time training.
• Three (3) months of Clinical Experience or CNA license required OR currently enrolled in Nursing school.
