Senior Patient Care Technician (Per Diem/Third Shift)

Responsibilities

• Assists nurses and providers with numerous duties involving direct and indirect patient care, including assisting providers with procedures, transporting patients within the Institute, and supporting efficient patient flow in the ambulatory setting.
• Procures and processes laboratory test samples for clinical and research testing purposes.
• Performs phlebotomy using venipuncture, butterfly, and microsampling techniques.
• Ensures proper patient registration and handling of laboratory orders within Hospital and Laboratory Information Systems.
• Processes and routes clinical laboratory testing materials to the appropriate testing areas.
• Maintains laboratory supply inventories.
• Processes requests for supply orders.
• Obtains electrocardiograms.
• Assists the unit in maintaining compliance and safety standards.
• Maintains quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
• Applies infection control techniques to care.
• Performs all duties of the Patient Care Technician.

Qualifications

• Required Education and Experience:
  • Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Associate’s degree and the national certification as a Medical Assistant; or
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time patient care experience and the national certification as a Patient Care Technician; or
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of four (4) months of full-time experience as a Patient Care Technician at Roswell Park and the national certification as a Patient Care Technician.
• Note: As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.

Pay

Starting hourly rate is $21.78.
