Senior Patient Access Representative - Orthopedics
About the role
Serves as a liaison between patients, families, physicians and medical support staff. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team to ensure medical services are appropriately scheduled for patient. Requires depth of knowledge of service line to proficiently review procedure/surgery orders, as well as appropriately schedule all necessary resources to perform the procedure/surgery. Responsible for resource management and resolving conflicts. Serves as a liaison between provider and supporting providers. Manages provider schedules.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with patients and providers to demonstrate medical necessity to insurance companies and obtain required prior authorization
- Perform registration duties and work the front desk
- Train and mentor new employees
- Serve as an electronic medical record (EMR) super user
- Display professionalism and promote an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation
- Work independently, as well as part of a team
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Use problem solving and critical thinking skills to resolve issues and seek guidance from leadership when appropriate
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills and use of multi-line telephone
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post-secondary education helpful
- Previous medical office experience preferred
- Prior electronic medical records (EMR) experience is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Customer service skills essential
- Six months' customer service experience desired
Schedule
Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Full time, 40.00 weekly hours. Orthopedics is a fast paced department with various specialty providers. This position would entail scheduling for Orthopedics and Podiatry.
Pay
$16.50 - $25.50 per hour
