Senior Pastor

About the role

PIBHL is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor to lead our Spanish-speaking congregation affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Our multicultural church is located midway between Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC, and currently meets at the facilities of First Baptist Church of Laurel. Typical Sunday services begin at 10:30 am and draw attendees from many Spanish-speaking nations. The Senior Pastor will shepherd the Hispanic congregation by teaching, discipling, and equipping leaders to reach the Laurel, MD community with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities

• Preach and teach as the primary pulpit voice in worship services.
• Shepherd the congregation through pastoral care, visitation, counseling, weddings, funerals, and administration of ordinances.
• Strengthen leadership development by identifying, training, and discipling elders, deacons, and servants to ensure a pipeline of qualified leaders.
• Develop and evaluate home-based Bible study groups.
• Coordinate an evangelistic strategy aimed at effectively reaching the Hispanic community in the Laurel metropolitan area.
• Communicate and clarify the vision, strategy, and goals of PIBHL to the congregation.
• Convene and lead church leadership and member meetings.
• Perform other pastoral duties as needed.

Requirements

• Mature Christian living in accordance with 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, verifiable by your local church.
• Team-oriented, humble, and proactive leadership style.
• Bachelor’s degree from an affiliated seminary; Master of Divinity or higher preferred.
• Alignment with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Fluency in both Spanish and English.
• Minimum of five years of ministerial experience, preferably within a Hispanic congregation.
• Competence with technology, cultural relevance, and exceptional communication skills.
• Ability to pass criminal, financial, and moral conduct background checks.

Compensation

Fixed salary determined according to education and experience; includes employer FICA contribution.
