Senior Parks and Grounds Maintenance Worker - Promotional

About the role

The Regional Parks Department (RPK) has requested a department promotional certification to fill a Senior Parks and Grounds Maintenance Worker position. Only qualified permanent and/or probationary Regional Parks employees on the eligible list may be eligible for referral to the department for the advertised position.

Responsibilities

• Make decisions in the field and solve staffing challenges in close communication with the Parks and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
• Lead Parks and Grounds Maintenance Worker I/IIs in projects and preventative/routine park maintenance.
• Identify projects that need preventative and routine maintenance, coordinate maintenance/repairs with the appropriate vendor or county agency, and work directly with the Parks and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to prioritize projects.
• Create, assign, track, and follow up on work orders for completeness.
• Train and mentor staff in field and essential work skills, such as preventative maintenance, pre-trip inspections, troubleshooting, and routine repairs on mobile equipment.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education, training, and experience which would likely provide for possession of the knowledge and abilities herein.
• Three years of experience in semi-skilled and skilled building construction, repair, maintenance, or groundskeeping work.
• Possession of a valid California driver's license.
• Possession of a Water Treatment Operator (T1) certification issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board within the probationary period.
