About the role
The Senior Paralegal at Torrid provides comprehensive support to the Legal Department across various corporate, commercial, employment, compliance, intellectual property, and litigation matters. This role serves as a trusted partner to internal stakeholders, managing legal processes and documentation, and ensuring the company operates in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
Responsibilities
- Maintain corporate records, entity management documentation, and organizational filings.
- Aid with board and committee materials, corporate resolutions, and governance-related documentation.
- Manage legal department records, contract repositories, and document retention processes.
- Develop and maintain legal templates, policies, and procedures.
- Support employment-related matters, including investigations, demand letters, separation agreements, and policy updates.
- Respond to regulatory agencies as advised by counsel.
- Assist with compliance initiatives related to labor and employment laws, privacy regulations, consumer protection requirements, and retail operations.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the business.
- Support internal audits and compliance assessments.
- Manage litigation matters, deadlines, budgets, and outcomes.
- Aid in insurance claims and risk management activities.
- Draft, review, revise, and administer a wide variety of commercial agreements.
- Coordinate trademark filings, renewals, and monitoring activities with outside counsel.
- Assist with intellectual property enforcement matters and infringement investigations.
- Partner with Company departments such as Human Resources, Finance, IT, Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, and DC teams to provide practical legal support.
- Identify legal risks and recommend solutions that support business objectives.
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program required.
- 8+ years of paralegal experience, preferably in-house or supporting a corporate legal department.
- Experience supporting corporate governance, employment law, commercial contracts, and litigation matters.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, contract administration, and legal processes.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal matter management systems.
- Must be available to work primarily on Pacific Time business hours to meet the needs of the business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Retail, apparel, consumer products, or e-commerce industry experience.
- Experience supporting publicly traded companies.
- Familiarity with privacy regulations, intellectual property matters, and employment law.
- Experience with contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems and e-signature platforms.
