About the role

This Sr HR Business Partner position is part of an Onsite HR Team with a focus on delivering a full spectrum of human resource programs. The role provides HR leadership and guidance to the Contract Logistics/Solutions divisions, serving travel teams and sitting inside one of our warehouse locations in the Canal Winchester/Columbus, OH area. The Sr HRBP oversees hiring, retention, termination, personnel records, legal compliance, compensation, benefits, payroll, orientation, and training, ensuring the needs of the travel teams are met in coordination with site management.

Responsibilities

  • Implements, interprets, and administers personnel and labor relations programs, projects, tasks, or initiatives aligning with company goals and objectives, including employment, employee relations, labor relations, compensation, performance management, benefits, recognition, training, and workforce planning.
  • Administers existing programs in accordance with policies and procedures, including Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action compliance.
  • Manages and ensures compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures affecting the organizational unit, such as employee safety, workers’ compensation, and OSHA compliance.
  • Provides leadership and guidance on workforce goals and objectives, sharing best practices with employees, peers, and management.
  • Offers feedback on interviewing techniques, labor relations, employee communications, new hire orientation, and training programs.
  • Leads supervisory training, skill improvement, and excellence in supervision.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates, and terminates assigned personnel.
  • Manages human resource administration, including new hires, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, grievance processes, and terminations, ensuring proper maintenance of personnel files.
  • Engages in frequent contact with inter-organizational and external representatives regarding operations or scheduling of projects.
  • Participates in meetings with internal and external representatives concerning human resource projects or operations, including due diligence and assimilation processes.
  • Uses customer feedback to monitor project status and identify process improvements to enhance quality, quantity, and timeliness of tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field, and 7 years of experience in the Human Resources field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of strong employee relations and performance management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of recruitment experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of freight forwarding/Transportation industry experience or experience in a 4PL/Contract Logistics environment.

Skills

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications; experience with HRIS systems (SAP Success Factors preferred) and helpdesk ticket systems (Zendesk preferred).
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English (reading, writing, and verbal).
  • Other Skills: Knowledge of human resources, management, problem-solving, conflict resolution, consulting, decision-making, financial and analytical skills. Knowledge of ERISA, employment, and labor laws and regulations. Strong interpersonal communication, customer service, and motivational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, handle ambiguity, cope with change, and manage shifting priorities. High attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Change management experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Recognized HR Professional Certification (SHRM preferred).

Physical Demands

Work is generally sedentary but may require occasional standing, walking, lifting, or using hands to handle objects, tools, or controls. The role may involve extensive computer and telephone use. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision. Hours may be extensive and occasionally staggered for multi-shift access.

Work Environment

The employee is rarely exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Travel

Travel will be necessary up to 50% of the time, primarily domestically and generally by airplane.

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position is $80,000.00 – $95,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
