About the role

As a member of the Property and Casualty Actuarial community you will be challenged and empowered to grow personally and professionally. We are dedicated to helping each of our associates develop to their full potential. To enable our associates to grow, P&C Actuarial offers a competitive Exam Support program for associates pursuing their actuarial designations.

Our P&C Actuarial Analysts develop actuarial recommendations for leadership and implement changes to satisfy the financial objectives of the #1 Property and Casualty insurer in the United States. They also develop and apply statistical modeling techniques to solve business problems, conduct research, identify solutions to actuarial problems and analyze and prepare responses to various actuarial questions/issues. Our P&C Actuarial Analysts serve as valued resources to other State Farm areas, often engaging with business partners across the organization to solve multi-faceted business problems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop actuarial recommendations for leadership and implement changes to satisfy financial objectives
  • Develop and apply statistical modeling techniques to solve business problems
  • Conduct research and identify solutions to actuarial problems
  • Analyze and prepare responses to various actuarial questions/issues
  • Engage with business partners across the organization to solve multi-faceted business problems

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the field (candidates with less experience are encouraged to review State Farm’s P&C Actuarial Analyst posting, if available)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management or other analytical fields
  • Experience with data and statistical analysis in Excel, SQL, R, and/or Python
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, leadership, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Successful completion of at least three Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society exams required
  • ACAS designation preferred
  • Intention to earn, or maintain the Continuing Education requirements of, the ACAS/FCAS designation
  • Eligibility to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization (e.g. H-1B visa) for this opportunity

Candidates selected will be placed into a job level based on overall competitiveness considering work history, educational background, industry knowledge, and ACAS/FCAS exam progress.

There is a 24-month incumbency period for any lateral job movements and a 12-month incumbency period for any promotional opportunities, which must be met before the employee may post for other State Farm positions.

Schedule

  • Hybrid work arrangement: minimum of 2 days per week in the office, moving to 3 days per week in 2027
  • Office locations: Bloomington, IL; Dunwoody, GA; Richardson, TX; Tempe, AZ
  • Standard 38:45-hour work week

Pay

  • Potential starting salary range: $110,000 - $165,000 (high end limited to applicants with significant relevant experience)
  • Starting salary based on skills, background, experience, passed exams, and ACAS/FCAS designation
  • Incentives for successful completion of industry exams (ACAS and FCAS)
  • Actuarial exam support/reimbursements and salary increase for passed exams
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
