Senior Oracle Database Enterprise Architect

About the role

This is a hybrid position, 4 days a week on-site in Merrifield, VA, supporting a civilian federal end-customer. Based on federal requirements, candidates must be US citizens and eligible to pass a Public Trust security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design enterprise database architecture using Oracle 21c.
• Ensure scalability, performance, availability, and security.
• Lead database migrations and upgrades.
• Implement Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Define database standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams.
• Perform capacity planning and performance optimization.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural governance.

Requirements

• 10+ years of IT experience, with significant experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or Oracle database architecture.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle Database 21c (or 19c/21c upgrades and migrations).
• Experience designing enterprise-scale, high-availability database environments.
• Proven experience leading architecture and digital transformation initiatives.

Technical Skills

• Oracle Database 21c administration and architecture.
• Database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.
• Performance tuning, SQL optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Backup and recovery using RMAN.
• High Availability technologies: Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, Automatic Storage Management, Multitenant Architecture (CDB/PDB).
• Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL programming.
• Experience with Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting.
• Knowledge of database security, encryption, auditing, and compliance.

Enterprise Architecture Skills

• Design enterprise-wide database and application architectures.
• Develop technology roadmaps and architecture standards.
• Align IT strategy with business objectives.
• Lead modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
• Create architecture documentation and governance models.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend best-fit solutions.

Cloud & Integration

• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• AWS or Azure exposure.
• Hybrid cloud architecture.
• Disaster Recovery planning.
• API and middleware integration.
• DevOps and CI/CD concepts.

Leadership Skills

• Lead technical teams and mentor DBAs and architects.
• Work with business stakeholders and executive leadership.
• Conduct architecture reviews.
• Manage enterprise-level projects.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Preferred Certifications: Oracle Database 21c Administration Certification, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Architect Certification, TOGAF Certification, AWS or Azure Architect Certification (optional).

Pay

Salary: $135,000 to $145,000 annually.
