Our Government client in Downtown NYC (10038) is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA for a 12+ month hybrid role. Candidates must be local and able to come onsite 3 days a week.
About the role
Start Date: 9/15/2026
Normal Business Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (35-hour work week, one-hour unpaid lunch)
Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days in-person, 2 days remote
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, install, configure, secure, maintain, and support all Oracle RAC 19c database environments on Exadata and Oracle Data Guard on Disaster Recovery (Site B).
- Analyze and monitor resource utilization, and tune the performance of all Oracle database environments.
- Administer and maintain Oracle Exadata clusters, including upgrading databases and Oracle Grid Infrastructure.
- Validate and implement quarterly patches on Exadata Oracle database RAC servers (Production and Development), including security updates, in coordination with Oracle Professional Services.
- Validate and implement quarterly patches on Oracle Data Guard (Site B), including security updates, following the quarterly patch implementation from Oracle Professional Services.
- Enable and support Oracle encryption on all database environments using Oracle Key Vault.
- Assist the Unix and network security team in monitoring operating system security.
- Ensure all changes to the environment adhere to established Change Management policies and procedures.
- Maintain disaster recovery configurations for Oracle Linux systems, perform periodic disaster recovery tests for critical databases, and maintain disaster recovery documentation.
- Perform database backups and test recovery plans using Veeam Solution.
- Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot clustered server environments using Oracle ASM.
- Provide technical assistance to systems development and business users.
- Set up and monitor scheduled Oracle batch jobs.
- Set up and monitor system alerts to provide 24x7 support and high availability.
- Liaise with Oracle and other vendors to troubleshoot critical technical issues and escalate based on criticality.
- Follow communications protocol for database outages and file incident reports.
- Escalate major database issues/problems to senior client management.
- Respond to Service Desk tickets for technical support, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
- Maintain inventory of all database environments and software assets.
- Available to work after hours and weekends as needed.
Requirements
- 8–10 years of experience as a Senior Oracle DBA managing a large-scale Oracle environment with Oracle Data Guard on Oracle Linux.
- Experience with Shell scripting, Perl, and Python.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting networking services and protocols in a Linux environment (e.g., TCP/IP, SSL, SFTP, SSH, Sendmail).
- Experience migrating databases to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud) is a plus.
- Experience supporting Oracle WebLogic and Oracle RDBMS in Oracle Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge of tools and techniques for recognizing and resolving technical (software, application) problems.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and perform in a high-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work independently or within a group to solve complex problems.
- Strong communication skills to interact with different levels of the organization.
- Strong team player with a service-oriented attitude and customer focus.
