Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

We have an opening for a Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer in Tucson, Arizona.

Responsibilities

• Assist in marketing and business development, including preparation of geotechnical proposals (scope of services and proposed fees), compilation of RFQ/RFP documentation, and responding to technical questions during pre-bidding and bidding phases of projects.
• Prepare, manage, and oversee geotechnical projects, including preparation of geotechnical evaluation reports.
• Attend project meetings with stakeholders as needed and maintain client relationships.
• Work directly with clients to ensure successful project completion.
• Mentor junior staff, provide leadership, and offer ongoing training to engineering staff.
• Provide direction and review engineering work products prepared by others.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest geotechnical survey, measurement, and analysis techniques, instrumentation, and industry standards or guidelines.
• Review and sign geotechnical proposals and reports on behalf of the company.

Requirements

• M.S. in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis.
• P.E. license required.
• Licensed professional engineer in Arizona with 10+ years of experience in the geotechnical industry.
• Well-rounded background in geotechnical engineering, strong work ethic, and excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Proven track record of successful client relationships and service.
• Thorough understanding and knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles.

Skills

• Work experience with construction and earthwork activities (preferred).
• Geophysical survey experience (an asset).
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under time pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
