Senior or Lead Consultant

About the role

Unison Software is seeking a Senior Consultant to serve as the senior functional authority on federal acquisition engagements using Unison's acquisition, grants management, and contract lifecycle solutions. This is a hands-on senior consulting role. Senior Consultants own the functional solution on their engagements, set and enforce functional and configuration standards, serve as the escalation point for the most complex business process and system behavior questions, and provide direction, review, and mentorship to other Consultants. The role advises senior government stakeholders on acquisition process improvement, system adoption, and operational efficiency across both implementation and operations and maintenance (O&M) engagements. Engagement assignment, solution complexity, and team size scale with experience level and are defined in the specific job posting.

Responsibilities

• Own the functional solution on assigned engagements, including business process design, configuration approach, and alignment of system capabilities to mission objectives
• Establish and enforce functional standards for configuration, requirements documentation, testing, and client-facing deliverables
• Provide functional direction to other Consultants, including task assignment, guidance, and review of their work products
• Review configuration decisions, requirements, test cases, and client deliverables for quality, accuracy, and consistency
• Serve as the functional escalation point for complex business process, configuration, and system behavior issues
• Mentor and develop Consultants, building depth on the team through knowledge transfer, pairing, and structured feedback
• Lead requirements gathering, business process analysis, configuration validation, testing, and user acceptance activities on the most complex workstreams
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior government stakeholders on acquisition process improvement, system adoption, and operational efficiency
• Lead the deployment and adoption of new capabilities and enhancements, including training, change management, and post-deployment support
• Partner with Technical Consultants, Project Managers, and Program Managers on solution decisions, delivery sequencing, and cross-workstream dependencies
• Provide functional input into estimates, level of effort, staffing plans, and proposal and capture activities for new and follow-on work
• Assess functional, data, and adoption risk across the engagement, and communicate it clearly to project and program leadership

Requirements

• Professional consulting or functional support experience with enterprise software applications, with depth of experience commensurate with the level of the position
• Experience owning functional solution design and configuration decisions across an engagement
• Experience providing functional direction, work product review, and mentorship to other consultants
• Experience conducting business process analysis and translating business requirements into functional solutions
• Experience supporting software implementations or operations and maintenance (O&M)
