SENIOR OIL AND GAS ENGINEER (SUPERVISOR)
About the role
The Senior Oil and Gas Engineer (Supervisor) will function as the UIC Supervising Engineer for CalGEM Northern District’s Orcutt office. The incumbent will directly supervise technical staff responsible for the safe operation of UIC projects and facilities, as well as staff responsible for reviewing projects, regulatory testing compliance, and facility plans for UIC operations.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise technical staff responsible for the safe operation of UIC projects and facilities.
- Supervise staff responsible for reviewing projects, regulatory testing compliance, and facility plans for UIC operations.
- Ensure compliance with UIC regulations and policies.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of UIC systems and infrastructure.
- Develop and implement training programs for technical staff.
- Conduct inspections and audits of UIC facilities to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Prepare and present reports on UIC activities and compliance to management and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to address UIC-related issues.
Requirements
The incumbent must possess a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field, combined with at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in oil and gas regulation, with a focus on UIC. Relevant experience includes working with underground injection control projects, facilities, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
Must possess a valid Driver’s License. Must also comply with the Department’s Conflict of Interest Code.
Skills
Effective communication and leadership skills are essential. The ability to manage and supervise a team, conduct inspections, and prepare comprehensive reports is crucial. Strong knowledge of UIC regulations and the ability to enforce compliance are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Pay
$13,166.00 - $16,485.00 per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
