About the role
Provides specialized oncology nursing care to patients. Verifies staff credentials and ensures compliance with mandatory requirements. Manages daily activities of clinical and non-clinical staff to optimize patient care and safety. Supervises staff, allocates resources, and liaises with other departments.
Responsibilities
- Manages daily activities of clinical and non-clinical staff to optimize patient care and safety.
- Supervises staff, allocates resources, and liaises with other departments.
- Develops and adheres to the annual budget and plans capital projects.
- Interviews, hires, orients, leads, mentors, and evaluates staff performance.
- Develops, implements, and enforces evidence-based policies, procedures, and standards.
- Provides clinical perspective for pharmacological and billing decisions.
- Anticipates emerging trends in cancer care and evaluates their impact.
- Ensures continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient oncology services.
- Keeps abreast of new cancer treatments and develops new programs and research opportunities.
- Ensures compliance with Commission on Cancer standards, including survivorship care and patient navigation.
Requirements
- Capable of productively multi-tasking and meeting imposed deadlines
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- 3+ years of management/leadership in a healthcare environment upon hire
- Oncology experience required
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing [Required]
- Master's degree in Nursing [Preferred]
Skills
- Knowledge of oncology nursing practices
- Ability to manage staff and resources
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with budget management and planning
- Ability to anticipate and evaluate emerging trends in cancer care
