About the role
The Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for Radiopharmacy duties, therapy administration, preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, radiation therapy and labeled blood products. Responsibilities also include quality control, radiation safety and safe disposal of radioactive materials.
Responsibilities
- Perform PET/CT and/or Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Prepare, administer, and document radiopharmaceuticals following radiation safety guidelines.
- Researches requirements for proposed procedures, abstract data acquisition methodologies and data processing protocols.
- Determines need for and obtains special equipment. Modifies existing or continuing education and training criteria to incorporate usage of these special devices.
- Serves as project team coordinator with Nuclear Medicine specialty technologists in implementing and performing new procedures.
- Understand exposure limits (A.L.A.R.A) to person, patient, staff and public.
- Provides training and instruction on new procedures and equipment usage.
- Aids technical employees with resolution of more difficult technical problems and instructs or demonstrates appropriate techniques and/or methods.
- Uses non-nuclear related equipment as needed, including patient monitoring devices, life support systems, special physiological gating device and testing apparatus.
- Able and willing to help position patients and/or not limited to phantoms on the MRI scanner.
- Works with fellow researchers.
- Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; processing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records (including the completion and verification of exams).
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by maintaining regulatory CME requirements.
- Attends educational workshops (PEAK).
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Performs other related duties.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science field or equivalent.
- 2 years developing and documenting laboratory procedures.
- 3-5 years' experience in Nuclear Medicine and/or PET preferred.
Licensing and Certification Requirements
- Name: Radiologic Technologist (Issuing Agency: Department of Health / Office of Professions)
- ARRT licensure or NMTCB in nuclear medicine.
- IV certification or experience with intravenous administration of radiopharmaceuticals preferred.

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $79720 - $119580 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
