The experienced NPD Engineer leads detailed mechanical design, design verification, launch support, and continuous improvement of centrifugal compressor products.

Responsibilities

  • Product development leadership: Own the translation of product requirements into practical, validated design solutions, working directly with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and Service teams and driving decisions to closure.
  • Technical accountability: Take responsibility for mechanical design definition, tolerance analysis, manufacturability, serviceability, and design documentation for new or improved products, applying engineering judgment to trade-offs.
  • Customer interaction: Serve as a technical point of contact for internal and external customers, effectively communicating design intent, technical constraints, trade-offs, and project status to audiences with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Product validation: Build centrifugal compressor prototypes to be used for pre-production testing and verification, implementing any lessons learned during the build into the design.
  • Travel: Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 5%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of related design or product development experience with a strong foundation in mechanical design, machine design, mechanics of materials, manufacturing processes, and/or engineering fundamentals, with a proven track record of delivering released designs.

Preferences

  • Demonstrated experience with centrifugal compressor components, pressure-containing equipment, rotating equipment, or packaged equipment design is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with finite element analysis, tolerance analysis, design automation, and/or computer programming is a plus.
  • Hands-on proficiency with CAD and PLM systems (NX and Teamcenter) is strongly preferred.

Core Competencies

  • Strong working knowledge of computer systems and basic Microsoft Office.
  • Strong command of the English language and the ability to clearly communicate in writing and speech with peers, leadership, and internal/external customers.
  • Ability to quickly understand, condense, and organize complex information to make sound, independent engineering decisions.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, and personable, with the confidence to own outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while independently owning significant deliverables and reliably managing stress, change, and pressure with professionalism.
  • Ability to perform critical mental tasks such as decision-making, prioritizing, organizing, and exercising sound judgment to align work with business objectives.
