About the role

WCTV is searching for a Senior Producer to lead the dayside producing team. The role involves producing compelling newscasts, including the most-watched evening broadcast. Responsibilities extend beyond show-stacking to breaking news coverage across digital and broadcast platforms, with a focus on emotion, perspective, and collaboration with veteran journalists.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside News Managers, Anchors, and Reporters to create and execute newscasts.
  • Select, showcase, and write local, regional, national, and international content for presentation.
  • Create graphics and lower thirds for all stories, and edit video.
  • Collaborate with anchors on breaking news, trending, and feature stories.
  • Write copy for the web and edit video for playback.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of producing experience in a commercial newsroom.
  • Demonstrated ability to write for both the ear and the eye.
  • Understanding of contemporary showcasing techniques, including maps, lower thirds, and text over video.
  • Knowledge of video editing and scripting software.
  • Working knowledge of web and social platforms.
  • Ability to select stories, stack a rundown, and time in the booth.
