Senior Neutral Beam Design Engineer
About The Role
Design and develop neutral beam injection systems, including ion sources, beam optics, vacuum system and beam dumps
Design high-voltage components (100 kV–1 MV class systems)
Develop thermal management solutions for high-power-density components
Collaborate with physicists to integrate beam line components in the NB injector
Prototyping, testing, and commissioning of beamline systems
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in design/mechanical engineering or related field
- Experience with one or more: Charged particle beam systems, Plasma sources (especially ion sources), High-voltage engineering, Vacuum systems
- Good knowledge of Solid Works or Catia
- Familiarity with simulation tools: COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS, or similar
- 5-10 years professional experience in an engineering role (design, analysis, test or manufacturing)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with neutral beam injection systems or fusion devices
- Knowledge of: RF ion sources or negative ion generation, High power flux dumps, Magnetic confinement systems (tokamaks, stellarators)
- Hands-on experience with: High-power test systems, Diagnostics (Langmuir probes, spectroscopy, beam diagnostics), High voltage systems
At TAE Technologies
The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements depending on the position offered (non-Sr., Sr.). The compensation range for these roles are $135,000 - $160,000.
