Senior Network/System Technician (NOSC)
JCS Solutions is seeking a Sr. Network/System Technician to support monitoring large-scale operations on a high-profile DOD contract in Fort Belvoir, VA. The I3TS program provides enterprise-wide IT support to enable DTRA’s Information Management & Technology Directorate (ITD) to consolidate, modernize, and continuously innovate the delivery of IT services and mission capabilities to DTRA’s internal and external mission partners operating in CONUS and OCONUS locations.
About the role
The candidate will obtain and maintain System Administrator and/or Network Administrator II functions and services in support of the agency and customers on Unclassified, Secret, and Top-Secret networks. Responsibilities include monitoring, managing, troubleshooting, repairing, installing security patches, and communicating the health of the DTRA IT Server, Storage, and Network infrastructures to ensure continuous, secure, and efficient access for all DTRA partners.
The role supports the Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) for the Agency on a 24x7x365 basis, maintaining real-time situational awareness of the DTRA IT Infrastructure and leading restorative actions to ensure operational availability. The candidate will triage degradations and outages, perform remediation, escalate issues as needed, and follow through to resolution. Strong communication skills are required to interact with government and contractor leadership, vendors, DoD, and other agencies, including drafting and sending Outage Notification reports.
Application support will be provided to various DTRA offices as outlined in Service Level Agreements (SLA), and proficiency in the ServiceNow Ticket system is required for creating incident tickets, reports, tasks, and change requests.
Responsibilities
- Support Tier I–III system, networking, and engineering personnel to ensure network troubleshooting efforts.
- Oversee real-time monitoring of global enterprise networks using DoD-approved tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
- Develop and enforce operational procedures, incident response workflows, and escalation protocols.
- Interface with Mission Partners, DISA, Joint Forces, and Combatant Commands on network status, issues, and operational impacts.
- Prepare and deliver operational briefs, after-action reports (AARs), and executive summaries to senior leadership.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and/or escalate technical issues based on ticket assignments, deskside or remotely, as necessary.
- Correlate events and incidents for management of Information Technology (IT) Services.
- Provide prompt customer service to DTRA personnel by assisting them with IT-related issues.
- Document and communicate degradation of services or outage issues to customers and assist with resolution.
- Follow ITSM and ITIL processes to ensure quality of services and prompt resolution.
- Utilize ServiceNow for queue and work management, ensuring assigned tickets stay within the program’s AQL/SLA commitments and are properly documented.
- Manage Active Directory, including user accounts and security groups for the agency.
- Open incident tickets with vendors, DoD, and Government agencies, providing critical data for triage.
- Draft and send Outage Notification email reports for initial, updated, and resolved critical network events, adhering to established timelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 8-12 years or Master’s with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience in a network operations, help desk, or IT support role. Specific experience, education, and training may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and network protocols.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a high-availability, fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Must possess an active Security+ or equivalent certification prior to start.
- Must possess an active DoD TS/SCI clearance at time of consideration.
Schedule
Nights (1800 – 0600 ET) the beginning of the week: every Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday on-site at Fort Belvoir (Bldg 6201 – DTRC), VA.

Pay
The general salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $101,000.00, based on factors such as location, qualifications, and applicable contract terms.
