Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a company focused on advancing U.S. Navy network infrastructure and test bed operations. This position is on-site in San Diego, CA.
About the role
The Senior Network Engineer will provide engineering expertise and day-to-day operational support for complex network environments, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing network operations. This is an opportunity to directly support mission-critical Navy communications and infrastructure programs while working with advanced networking technologies.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for physical network environments, including hardware/software installation, configuration, firmware upgrades, STIG compliance, and performance optimization of routers and switches.
- Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and maintain network performance utilizing enterprise network management tools and packet-level analysis.
- Design, configure, and maintain routing, switching, firewall, and boundary protection solutions across complex enterprise environments.
- Establish and maintain secure connectivity to cloud environments through management of IP space, VLANs, routing tables, VPCs, and virtual gateways.
- Support network testing initiatives, corrective action programs, vendor coordination, and regression testing to ensure network reliability and security.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience supporting enterprise network engineering and operations, or a Master's degree with relevant experience.
- Experience with Cisco networking technologies, routers, switches, firewalls, OSPF, BGP, IPsec, VLANs, and network security best practices.
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, firmware management, STIG compliance, and network performance analysis.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Active Secret Clearance required.
- IAT Level II certification required (Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, SCNP, or SSCP).
- Current CCNA, CCNP, or CCDP certification required.
