Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage a redundant virtual core, 300+ switches, and 1,350+ WAPs.
- Oversee authentication (NAC) and interconnects for SAN storage, VOIP, and virtual environments.
- Design and audit complex firewall configurations (virtual and cloud) using industry best practices.
- Monitor logs for incident investigation and mitigate emerging security risks.
- Lead capacity planning and automated monitoring initiatives.
- Conduct research to update network architecture, firmware, and configuration standards.
- Document and maintain architecture diagrams, change management logs, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Ensure alignment with accessibility and regulatory standards.
- Partner with the Five Colleges, Inc. consortium and participate in campus-wide committees to support educational and business goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 3–6 years in enterprise network administration (Juniper, Aruba, or Cisco).
- 5+ years managing enterprise wireless (Aruba, Cisco).
- Expertise in wireless protocols, NAC (e.g., ClearPass), and enterprise firewall/VPN solutions (Palo Alto, Checkpoint).
- Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical faculty, students, and staff.
- High level of organization, professional tact, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DNS/DHCP management (Bind, Route53, Kea).
- Proficiency with wireless survey tools (Ekahau, AirMagnet).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Perl) for task automation.
- Experience working in higher ed.
