Senior Mortgage Underwriter

About the role

A Senior Mortgage Underwriter will take responsibility for the daily underwriting processes for our Conventional, FHA, and VA loans. Your attention to detail will have a direct impact on our customers' ability to secure a loan for their dream home. This position is remote; however, you must be willing to attend onsite meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite loans for compliance with investor and/or agency guidelines.
• Submit loans through an automated underwriting system for a decision.
• Approve or pend loans; present appropriate loans daily to loan committee.
• Assist branches with underwriting questions, scenarios, and problems.
• Maintain 24–48 hour underwriting turnaround for new loans and resubmissions.
• Operate office equipment and maintain the loan filing system.

Requirements

• An approved FHA, DE (Direct Endorsed), and VA SAR/LAPP Underwriter.
• At least 5 years of experience underwriting loans.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate and problem solve with other mortgage partners.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel for data organization and analysis.
• Experience with Encompass preferred, not required.
