About the role

Sunflower Bank, N.A. is seeking a Senior Mortgage Product Development Specialist to join our team in Plano, TX. This role offers a hybrid and remote option.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Secondary Marketing, Mortgage Origination leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and develop new mortgage products and enhancements.
  • Engage with Mortgage Origination leadership to align on new product priorities, go-to-market strategies, product adoption trends, and opportunities to optimize or reposition existing offerings.
  • Make decisions on product retirement or termination based on volume, profitability, or risk.
  • Define product parameters, eligibility criteria, pricing considerations, and operational requirements to ensure scalability and compliance.
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all mortgage products post-launch.
  • Manage investor and Agency relationships, including communications, escalations, and issue resolution.
  • Evaluate and onboard new investors and products to enhance competitiveness and execution flexibility.
  • Maintain and manage all investor agreements and counterparty relationships.
  • Own the end-to-end process for investor and Agency recertifications, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Provide feedback into product design and eligibility to proactively mitigate repurchase and salability risk.
  • Review investor scorecards monthly to identify trends and share insights with department heads.
  • Lead product launches with clear timelines, milestones, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Monitor product performance, volume trends, and adoption, providing actionable insights to leadership.
  • Implement improvements to increase speed-to-market, operational efficiency, and product competitiveness.
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and investor guidelines.
  • Support internal governance, including product approvals, committee presentations, and documentation.
  • Own the end-to-end preparation, completion, and submission of all investor and Agency recertifications, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to all requirements and deadlines.
  • Proactively track recertification timelines and ensure no lapse in investor approvals or eligibility.
  • Respond to investor follow-ups, conditions, and audit inquiries related to recertifications.
  • Identify and address gaps or risks that could impact approval status or ongoing investor standing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of mortgage banking experience, with strong exposure to Secondary Marketing, Investor Relations, Product Development, and Capital Markets.
  • A 4-year college degree or university with major course work in a discipline related to the requirements of the position, preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience working across cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders, including Mortgage Origination leadership.
  • Direct hands-on experience completing and submitting investor and/or Agency recertifications.
  • Proven ability to independently prepare complete recertification packages, interpret investor eligibility and recertification requirements, resolve deficiencies, and respond to investor recertification conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage guidelines, underwriting practices, and loan salability.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional and leadership qualities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service experience.
