About the role
The Senior Mortgage Banker will establish and maintain relationships with Renasant Bank branch managers, Realtors, and builders throughout a designated service area to generate production of all one- to four-family residential products (conforming, conventional, FHA, VA, and other available products). This role serves as the facilitator of the mortgage loan process and maintains productive relationships with mortgage operations staff.
Responsibilities
- Originate all types of one- to four-family residential loans.
- Maintain written goals created in conjunction with the Mortgage Banking Department.
- Coordinate loan production throughout the assigned service area.
- Maintain a prescribed system status report of all loan cases in process.
- Report monthly on calls made to banks, realtors, and builders.
- Communicate with the Mortgage Banking department to clarify program changes or updates for branch personnel.
- Counsel and communicate with prospective borrowers to determine applicable loan products.
- Schedule appointments to take applications at convenient locations (home, branch office, or work) and assist customers in completing accurate applications and acquiring supporting documentation.
- Gather additional information required for loan closing in a timely manner and maintain a status report of all loans in process.
- Assist customers with closing contingencies.
- Prepare Good Faith Estimate and Truth-In-Lending within 72 hours of application.
- Provide Realtors (if applicable) with a weekly written review on loan progress.
- Educate and update branch personnel on conforming loan requirements and customer inquiries.
- Establish rapport with the local real estate community and update regularly on available programs by calling on realtors, builders, and attorneys.
- Survey local market areas regularly.
- Establish priority accounts (realtors, builders, title companies, etc.) and visit respective offices at least once a week.
- Conduct seminars for local realtors and new associates on lending aspects (e.g., conventional, FHA/VA, ARMs, CRA).
- Become active in local affiliations related to mortgage loan production (e.g., Board of Realtors, Home Builders Association).
- Perform all duties in compliance with state and federal regulations and internal policies.
- Attend production meetings as designated by management.
- Maintain licenses and certifications, if applicable.
- Work independently in an outside sales setting, requiring reliable transportation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years of Mortgage Origination/Banker experience.
- Ability to originate one- to four-family residential mortgage products.
- Thorough knowledge of FHLMC/FNMA, FHA, VA, and other mortgage banking lending procedures and requirements.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and to deal cordially with the public.
- Ability to organize time effectively.
- Ability to learn and comprehend regulatory directives and procedures quickly.
- Ability to represent Renasant Bank professionally, projecting a "Customer Focused Banking" image.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions following state and federal regulatory guidelines.
- Reliable means of transportation.
