About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Modeling Engineer to develop, validate, and apply advanced computational models that support the design and optimization of next-generation sensor and system technologies. The ideal candidate combines deep theoretical knowledge with strong practical intuition and has a demonstrated ability to translate modeling insights into real-world physical implementations. This role provides technical leadership in modeling methodologies, simulation frameworks, numerical analysis, and data interpretation. The Senior Modeling Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to define modeling requirements, drive predictive insights, and accelerate development across complex engineering programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced multi-physics models using ANSYS, including Electromagnetic, Static and Dynamic Structural, Fluid Flow, Atomic Flow, and Surface Kinetics simulations.
  • Correlate modeling results with experimental data to ensure accuracy, reliability, and predictive capability.
  • Work closely with experimental, design, and systems engineering teams to guide physical prototypes and product development.
  • Translate complex physical phenomena into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drive the transition from theoretical models to functional hardware, ensuring model fidelity throughout development cycles.
  • Document modeling approaches, assumptions, and results; present findings to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Conduct advanced numerical analysis using tools such as FEA, CFD, MBD, or multi-physics simulation environments.
  • Mentor junior engineers in modeling best practices, numerical methods, and analysis tools.
  • Evaluate new modeling tools, technologies, and techniques to continuously improve simulation capabilities.
  • Communicate results and model limitations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • PhD in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field; or MS with 3+ years of relevant experience; or BS with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to relate simulation results to experimental data and physical behavior.
  • Hands-on experience in ANSYS multi-physics environments, including Electromagnetic, Structural (Static & Dynamic), Fluid Dynamics, and surface/atomic-scale phenomena.
  • Demonstrated history of moving models from concept to physical implementation.
  • Strong capability in explaining and interpreting physical phenomena, both verbally and in written form.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Experience with multi-physics modeling (thermal-structural, fluid-structure interaction, electromagnetic-mechanical coupling, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with sensor systems, advanced materials, or semiconductor processes.
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation for simulation workflows.
  • Experience supporting R&D or advanced technology development programs.

Benefits

  • Most locations offer a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off.
  • Competitive compensation & 401(k) program to plan for your future.
  • Robust medical, dental, vision, & disability coverage with qualified wellness discounts.
  • Basic Life Insurance and Additional Life & AD&D Insurances are available.
  • Flexible Vacation & PTO.
  • Paid Parental Leave.
  • Generous Employee Referral Program.
  • Voluntary Benefits Available: Longer Term Care, Legal, Identity Theft, Pet Insurance, and more.
