The position is a Senior Mobile Live Game Product & Economy Consultant based in the United States.

About the role

You’ll work on a mobile game in soft launch, with paid user acquisition already underway, giving you the opportunity to influence critical systems at an important stage of growth. The role requires a holistic view of the player experience, connecting FTUE, progression, monetization, and retention strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the first-time user experience and early player journey, identifying tutorial drop-off, time to meaningful gameplay, early-game difficulty, and opportunities to improve onboarding.
  • Assess how effectively new players understand core mechanics and determine which systems and complexity should be introduced early versus later.
  • Analyse the game economy, including currencies, progression systems, sinks, faucets, resource scarcity, progression gates, and the overall player power curve.
  • Evaluate progression pacing, player demand, long-term goals, and the relationship between power progression and competitive fairness.
  • Identify and mitigate potential pay-to-win risks while maintaining a healthy and sustainable economy.
  • Review monetization strategy across first purchases, offers, pricing, regional price points, payer segmentation, conversion, battle passes, rewarded advertising, and spending progression.
  • Develop recommendations for monetization structures that enhance the player experience rather than negatively affecting engagement or competitive integrity.
  • Analyse retention and live-game depth, including core loops, match quality, fairness, short- and long-term goals, collection motivation, and daily or weekly engagement mechanisms.
  • Analyse raw player and product data, including cohorts, funnels, retention, conversion, and behavioural metrics, to identify meaningful patterns and opportunities.
  • Translate quantitative and qualitative analysis into clear, actionable product recommendations and help prioritize opportunities based on expected impact.
  • Work cross-functionally with product, game design, economy, analytics, and LiveOps teams to implement recommendations and assess the results after changes are shipped.
  • Balance monetization, progression, retention, player experience, and competitive fairness when making product recommendations.

Requirements

  • Strong professional experience working on live free-to-play mobile games.
  • Deep practical expertise in game economy and progression systems.
  • Strong understanding of mobile game monetization, retention, engagement, and player behavior.
  • Demonstrated experience making economy, balance, progression, or monetization decisions for a live mobile title.
  • Ability to work directly with raw player and product data and independently identify meaningful insights.
  • Sound analytical judgment, including the ability to distinguish between reliable evidence and data that does not yet support a clear conclusion.
  • Proven ability to translate analysis into concise, practical, and impactful product recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of competitive integrity and the risks associated with pay-to-win mechanics.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across product management, game design, economy, analytics, and LiveOps functions.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a part-time consulting capacity while communicating recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience working on MOBA titles.
  • Background in competitive PvP mobile games.
  • Experience supporting mobile games through soft-launch phases.
  • Experience with paid user acquisition-driven mobile games.
  • Experience designing or optimising battle passes, offers, LiveOps programs, or rewarded advertising.
  • Experience evaluating the interaction between acquisition, monetization, progression, and retention systems.

Benefits

  • Part-time consulting contract.
  • Fully remote working arrangement.
  • Opportunity to influence the product strategy of a competitive free-to-play mobile game in soft launch.
  • Direct impact across game economy, monetization, retention, FTUE, and LiveOps.
  • Flexible consulting environment suited to experienced gaming professionals.
  • Opportunity to work with cross-functional product, design, analytics, and LiveOps teams.
  • English-speaking international working environment.
