About the role
Stantec is seeking a Senior Mineral Resource Geologist to join our US Mining team. This position requires an individual with broad exploration and mining operation experience and proven technical competencies to support our industrial and mining sectors.
Responsibilities
- Build geologic models using software programs such as MinePlan, Leapfrog, Vulcan, Geologist or similar packages
- Analyze and interpret data using database and GIS programs such as Microsoft Access, Excel, MinePlan, ArcGIS, Mapinfo, Torque or similar packages
- Author independent technical reports as Qualified Person (NI43-101) or Competent Person (JORC) once having obtained the necessary experience and qualification
- Manage, plan and implement resource exploration and evaluation programs
- Assist in developing work with new and existing clients
Requirements
- Diverse background in exploration and mining projects, past career focus in field exploration, database management, geologic modeling, and resource estimation
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Attention to detail and strong QA/QC skills
- A broad understanding of the independent reporting requirements under NI43-101, JORC and SEC SK-1300
- Understanding of project related risks
- Ability to develop a strong network in the local and national marketplace
- Exceptional organizational, technical, leadership, and communication skills
- Willingness to work and travel to remote locations for short periods (e.g. two weeks)
- Willingness to pursue a P.G. or QP during the first two years of employment
Qualifications
- Minimum of a B.S. in Geology with preference given to an M.S. degree
- P.G. or QP is preferred
- 10 to 15 years of experience
